Well guys, it's here. The day has finally come, it's my last blogpost for my 52 week photo project. It's such a weird feeling thinking about how this time last year, I was merely thinking about attempting a project, and before I knew it, the ball was rolling. Then, I blinked again, and it's over. BUT! Let's not make this a sad post. It's actually a happy post for celebrating! Today's my brother's birthday! I told him I wanted to do a portrait of him for this week but he's not one to like being photographed. I had to think outside the box with him haha. Right now, he has a crazy beard growing and says he isn't going to cut it until May. My mom and grandma aren't too happy about that (lol) but it's funny to me. So, I decided to do something creative involving his beard, like turning it into a Christmas tree! I hung the lights over his ears and bobby pinned them to stay. Then, we hung ornaments from the string of lights and I added some fake snow flakes for that more Christmasy effect. It's a little difficult to see the snow but that's okay, I know it's there :) haha. Anyway, I just wanted to do something fun and different, per usual, and I'm super happy my brother was willing to help. If you know him, be sure to tell him happy birthday! :) Thanks for checking out my blog & let me know what you think!
CHRISTMAS IS 6 DAYS AWAY! I REPEAT 6 DAYS! I hope everyone is ready for Santa because he's gonna be here real soon. Also, be sure to leave him his cookies & milk. And of course a carrot for the reindeer because you can't forget them! But really, in case you haven't noticed how close Christmas is, consider this your warning. Get your shopping done before.. nah, actually it's already pretty late (YA PROCRASTINATORS!) :) Merry Christmas, y'all!
Hey guys, only two more posts until this whole thing is over! How do y'all feel about that? Let's focus on this week first though. Today is my nephew's birthday! He's 9 now but still a cute little nugget. I wanted to feature him because it's been all year and he hasn't made his debut haha. I figured his birthday was a great time to do it. I said in my last post that I wanted to try and keep these next few sort of Christmas related because tis the season right? I didn't want it too birthday themed or to be just a classic portrait. I always like to put a little spin on things so I decided to throw in some blue string lights to illuminate him. It took a few tries to get it right and this image was as close to perfect as I could get. It was almost exactly what I imagined when I started planning for this week. So, I hope you enjoy and prepare yourselves for these next few weeks!
Hey guys! For this week's photo, I had something planned but before I knew it, I had lost track of time. I have a few conceptual photos planned out for next year though so it's okay. But that's another story! So anyway, after that happened I was lost at what to do. Luckily, my best friend Maria was kind enough to help me brainstorm. She came up with the idea of doing something Christmas themed. From there, I decided that the next three out of four photos will be Christmas themed. I mean, it only makes sense right!? Anyway, enjoy and get excited for Christmas! I already know at least half of you have been ready and listening to Christmas music since November 1st, don't lie. :)
Hello again! So, I really feel weird posting on Friday about an event that happened during the week. It feels like I'm late to the game or something. I mean, Thanksgiving was only yesterday so it's not so bad. It's one of my favorite holidays because love all the food (don't lie, you get excited about the food too) and being with family. There's always so much happening in everyday life and it's nice to kinda slow down and think about the things you're thankful for. You can do this any and every day of course! It's just, when there's a holiday specifically for it, how could you NOT think about these things. Now, I could probably make a list of a hundred things that I'm thankful for, but I don't want to bore you and have you read it all. Instead, I'll sum it up and say that I'm thankful for my family, all my friends, Lyle, my pups, my health, and the life I have been given. Here are a few snapshots I got of my favorite memories of Thanksgiving Day. I hope you enjoy! :)
Hey guys! I really cannot get over how close to the end of the year we are! I only have 5 more posts until it's done. It's such a weird feeling haha. Anyway, let's focus on this week! Monday, I went to Lost Maples in Vanderpool, Texas with Lyle. It was quite a drive but so, so pretty! I am absolutely in love with the Texas Hill Country. I'm constantly wanting to be out there wandering and exploring. Actually, I'm wanting to explore everywhere. Texas is just a start ;). So, my photo for the week is the collection of instant photos I took while walking the trails (also included close ups of each). I wish I had taken more and had actually planned to take more but I was too enamored with the beauty that surrounded me. I do have an entire blog post of photos & a video coming up from our combined trips to Lost Maples and Enchanted Rock last month so be on the lookout for that soon! I hope you enjoy! :)
Yep. You read that title right. As much as I love my baby monkey, I don't think any of us could handle four of her! But, I thought it would be interesting to see what four of her would look like. I read about this little trick online one day (forgot which website, oops!) and thought I would try it out. It took a few tries to get it just right but we finally got a winner! She's so fun when she's willing to help and doesn't get tired of me telling her "Wait Morgy, one more picture!" Anyway, this photo was taken on my iPhone 5 using only the panoramic feature! It was not photoshopped! As always, let me know what you think. Just a heads up, there are only 6 WEEKS left in the year for my project! SIX?! I can not believe it. Anyway, I have the last six planned out and hopefully they go as planned. But until next time, enjoy!
Hi guys! So, the past few weeks I've had photos planned and they needed to be executed a certain way and needed time and preparation, and I just worked really hard to make them come together properly. To be honest, I wanted to shoot something quick and simple this week. Plus, with the lazy, gloomy weather it was hard to want to do anything besides lay in bed with hot chocolate. So, I decided to just head outside and see what I could find. The wind was blowing pretty nicely so of course our flags were waving around. I wanted to work on framing my photo nicely so I spent a good while outside in an uncomfortable position to get this photo haha. Anyway, it's exactly what I wanted: something really simple but something I enjoyed. Also, who doesn't love Texas and our bi-polar weather?
Hey guys! So, I'm super super excited about this post. A few weeks ago, I was scrolling through Netflix and I found the remake of Carrie. The original is one of my favorite classic horror films and I always love to give remakes a chance. It didn't let me down! In my opinion, it was pretty good. Of course there were minor yet obvious changes to little details, considering it was taking place a little more recently (ie, they recorded the scene when Carrie discovers she's bleeding on a phone and uploaded it to the internet).
ANYWAY! I was strangely inspired to use this movie for my Halloween post and here we are! Paula (thankfully) agreed to be my model, even after I told her about pouring blood all over her. We went on a trip to Goodwill and I was so happy that I found the perfect gown! I don't think you fully understand my excitement, y'all. Anyway, instead of going into detail explaining how the shoot went, just check out the behind the scenes video I made! Also, as always, let me know what you think! :D Thanks guys and be sure to check back next week! :D

Hey y'all! This week, I wanted to get into the Halloween spirit just a little and prep you guys for next week. My aunt bought Sadie a cute little Halloween tutu/costume last year when we got her and it finally fits her! It was a little snug on Sierra but I didn't want to leave her out of the photo shoot fun! Although, it doesn't look like either of them enjoyed being in this ridiculous thing while I snapped photos upon photos of them. If you know me, then you know I'm obsessed with my dogs. So, I may be a little biased when I say they're the cutest pups ever! :p Until next week, I hope you enjoy! And seriously, get excited for next week because I have something super awesome planned. I don't normally hype up my upcoming post but I'm just so excited I cant help it.
Hey guys! So this week, I turned my room into a giant pinhole camera! If you don't know what that is, you can click HERE and see how it works. Basically, I covered up my windows and made my room as dark as I could. I then had a tiny opening in the cardboard covering one of my windows through which light entered my room. As my eyes adjusted to the darkness, I could see the image of outside sprawled across my wall. The only thing was that it was inverted. It was still something really cool to see and do in my own bedroom! Below, I added the original image as well as it upside down just so you can see it better. I hope you enjoy! And be ready for the next few weeks because I have some interested posts planned! :D
Hey guys! So I had a little trouble coming up with an idea for this week's photo. I started looking to lists of photo ideas for inspiration. A lot of them weren't anything I was interested in or anything I felt would help me really progress. However, one of them suggested fine art. When I read that, the first thing I thought of was how exactly a year ago, I was working on my senior thesis. As stressful as it was, I actually had a lot of fun with it. I sometimes actually miss school because although I was constantly busy that meant I was constantly being creative and I love that. So anyway, this week I decided to revisit my senior thesis project. Even though I had months to prepare for that, this time I only had a week. It was still enjoyable as always though! So, I hope y'all enjoy as well!
Hi guys! So, I'm not going to lie I completely forgot it was Friday. I did have a photo planned for this week but I lacked materials and couldn't think of a good alternative of materials in time. Before I knew it, the week got away from me and I forgot I was photo-less for the week. But fear not! Thank goodness for iPhones because you have a camera and tons of editing apps at your fingertips! I almost always have some sort of inspiration floating around in my head so I was lucky I was able to work on something in such a short amount of time. Also, not saying I half assed this because I would never. Like I said, shooting with my iPhone is just quick and easy. Anyway, enough blabbering. This week's photo is inspired purely by the golden hour's sun & an editing style I have recently enjoyed. So I hope you enjoy as well!
Happy Friday, y'all! Welcome back to my blog! This week's post is featuring my niece Morgyn. She's made an appearance here and there because she's always over at my house so of course, she's readily available. However, this week I decided to do a regular portrait session with her for her birthday. I aimed for shooting during golden hour and I was really happy with how they turned out! Of course, she was over having her picture taken after a while but we still had tons to choose from and I actually couldn't decide which few to post here :|. That is why I added more to my website! So you can check out more HERE. I hope y'all enjoy! Let me know what you think and be sure to check back next Friday for another post!
Hey everyone & happy Friday! This week I'm bringing you a very exciting photo. Actually, it's not just an ordinary photo. This week, I present you with a cinemagraph. For those that don't know, a cinemagraph is a photograph where a minor and repeated movement occurs. While they are similar to GIFs, they're still different due to the fact that there is a subtle movement. It was pretty tough to get this going at first and I definitely ran into lots of kinks. However, once I finally got all those worked out, I was pretty happy with the outcome. I can't wait to try more of these in the future! I hope you guys enjoy it! So, until next week... :)
Hey guys! So, I'm back again this week for another photo. I mean, obviously. :| Anyway, this week I decided to have a little more fun with some lighting while touching on the subject of childhood. As a kid, your imagination is wild and you can make anything happen. Some of us may lose that as we grow older and that's a sad thought. But you don't have to! Being young at heart and having that wild imagination that allows you to do anything is something great to hold on to for as long as you can. If you have lost that little spark, maybe you just need to look for it in a place you least expect. Until next week, I hope you enjoy!
xo,
xo,
Happy Friday & welcome back to my blog! This week, I'm excited to show you some work I did on film. Maria came over and we had a full day of makeup and shooting. Originally, I had a whole theme to work off of, so I did her makeup and such accordingly. I did have some other props I wanted to add but I ended up forgetting about them completely. So, this week's photo ended up just being a nice portrait resulting from experimenting with lighting and film. I am overall very pleased with how this came out and I hope you enjoy it as well! :)

Hello everyone! I haven't said this in a while but I can't believe how fast this year is flying by. 35 weeks already!? Ugh. Well, moving on, if you know me then you know I LOVE when it rains. There's something about the sound of rain falling, the gloomy skies, and cuddling up to be lazy that just makes me happy. However, earlier this week it rained at my house and there were only a few dark clouds. It was still mostly sunny and bright. It was around the time the sun was setting though so the sky eventually started changing colors. If you know I love rain then you also know I'm obsessed with sunsets. So, I was just sitting on my bed probably scrolling through Tumblr when I noticed there was a bright orange cast outside. Everything was just shining with this golden orange color and it was gorgeous. I grabbed my instant camera, since I had it out at the time, and headed outside to check out the sky. It was a beautiful mix of orange and purple and I loved it. I would have snapped hundreds of photos if I could but unfortunately, I ran out of film. However, I love the little triptych I created & I hope you do too! :)
Hey guys! So, sometimes I really enjoy shooting with my iPhone for these weekly blog posts. Sometimes, it's nice to not stress over having to set up and plan an entire shoot for one photo. And this is one of those times. Today's post is really simple. Summer is over (womp womp..) and back to school has either already started for some or is about to start for others. It's really weird not getting ready to go back to school, even though this is my second semester out of school already. It's just different in the fall. Anyway, in honor of summer I guess you could say, here's a simple photo of something that screams summertime to me. Raspas are one of the things I look forward to most this season. I seriously get one maybe once a week. They're even better with ice cream! Anyway, enjoy the deliciousness that is this photo until next week!
Hello everyone! Let's get this started! So a little more than a month ago, my friend Maddie dyed her hair bright red. She text me saying, "I think it's time for another photoshoot". So we started planning something out; something simple like an updated portrait. Then, in the middle of our conversation she says, "I feel like Ariel". Um, lightbulb! So, we planned for an Ariel photoshoot. Scrambling around last minute, we finally were able to get our shoot done. If you haven't seen The Little Mermaid, you're crazy and you probably won't understand the reference shots I got. It's been a goal for a while to do some sort of Disney Princess photoshoot and so far this year I've done two! So enjoy these shots & see you next week!
